Have you been asking yourself if you need a new website? You might be thinking of updating the design of your site, upgrading your website's functionality, or just fixing a few broken things. Here are five questions to help you decide whether it's time for a new website.

Is your website content up to date?

When's the last time you went through every page of your website to check for outdated content? Maybe there are packages you’re no longer offering, your hours have changed, or you still need to highlight all the changes you’re making for COVID.

Have you updated the design of your website recently?

Has it been more than three years since you’ve updated the design of your site? New design trends are constantly emerging, and a well-designed site will attract visitors and turn them into customers. Great design is a huge factor in keeping visitors on your site. If it looks good and is clear and easy to navigate, visitors will enjoy being there and navigating through it—spending more time on your site, learning more about your business, and optimally, buying!

Is your website mobile-friendly?

With up to 70% of all internet access coming from mobile devices—it’s important to check your site for mobile responsiveness. Visit your website on your phone. Are you getting the same experience you are on desktop? Check things like text readability, that all the links your user needs are there, and that there aren’t any wacky design things happening.

Does your website have updated functionality?

With so much of life happening online right now, consider adding an online course or e-commerce to your website. Adding a blog or newsletter signup can also help drive traffic to your website and increase visibility on search engines.

Is your website loading quickly?

These days, the average time a visitor spends on a website is just 8 seconds. Eight seconds! If one or two of those seconds is spent just on your site loading, say goodbye to that customer. There are many things we can do to speed up your existing site. Not sure how fast your site is loading? Take a look here.

Is your website secure?

Website visitors are becoming increasingly concerned with privacy and security. Make sure your site has a small padlock next to your URL and it uses https://. Not only will this build the trust of your visitors, but it will also help boost your site's visibility on search engines, as this is something that they look for when ranking your pages.

So, do you need a redesign?

Your website is one of the key components people use to judge your business’s credibility, expertise, and legitimacy, and get an overall feel of whether they want to work with you.

If you answered no to one or two of these, it usually doesn’t mean a full redesign of your entire website. Updating these things will definitely increase your website’s viability, traffic, and user engagement. Studio One44 offers hourly consulting to help with these changes.

If you said no to more than two of these things—it’s probably time to consider redoing your website. While this may seem like a daunting task, we can help with our straightforward, step-by-step process.
